한국이 지난 9월 IS의 잠재 테러 대상으로 지목된 이후 외교 안보 당국이 긴장하고 있다. IS의 영문 홍보 잡지 '다비크' 9월호는 '내재적 결의(미국이 붙인 IS 격퇴 작전명)에 참가한 새로운 십자동맹'으로 한국을 포함한 62개국을 꼽으면서 이 국가들을 테러 대상으로 적시했다. IS는 정식 국가명인'Republic of Korea(대한민국)'옆에 괄호로 'South Korea(남한)'라고 나란히 병기했다. 동아시아에서는 일본과 대만•싱가포르 등도 테러 대상으로 지목됐다. 반면 러시아•중국•인도는 빠져 있다. 임성남 외교부 1차관은 17일 국회 외교통일위원회 긴급 현안 간담회에서 테러 위험이 높은 재외 공관 현황에 대해 "20개 안팎"이라고 말했다.

Security forces are on heightened alert after the terror attacks in Paris as Korea was listed among potential targets of terror attacks by Islamic State.

The September edition of Dabiq, ISIS' glossy propaganda magazine, named Korea among 62 countries that are supposedly part of a new "crusader coalition" and targeted for potential terror attacks.

In East Asia, Japan, Taiwan and Singapore are also on the list.

Western countries included Australia, Canada, France, Germany and the U.K., and Muslim countries Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.

Russia, China and India were for some reason not on the list.

Vice Foreign Minister Lim Sung-nam told lawmakers on Tuesday that "around 20" Korean overseas missions could become targets of ISIS terror attacks.
